Parua Bay Cottage, located adjacent to a beach shared only with the Innes family. The beach is sandy and suitable for swimming, fishing, lazing on, and all this not fifty steps from the cottage. The view from the front door is of the beach framed by Pohutukawa, while the view from the back door is of large native trees and old Kauri. Walking tracks are on the 20 acre property.

The renovated historic cottage, built in 1860's has plenty of space for a long summer holiday. There are two bedrooms, a lounge with open fire, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and full laundry. All I needed to bring was plenty of food and wine. The convenience of Sky TV, wifi  and cell phone coverage are provided. A mooring for boats up to 10 metres is available just in front of the cottage and launching at the boat outdoor club just 7 minute drive.

The cottage has every amenity - a new kitchen comes complete with gas hobs and oven. Marian has, however, gone to a lot of trouble to have everything in keeping with the age of the cottage. The setting above the beach is unique and very special.  Bream Head,  Ocean and Pataua beach walks are close by. Fishing or diving trips can be arranged to the Hen and Chicken Islands

There was plenty for this city dweller to do here: 2 Kayaks are provided for kayaking, bushwalking, birdwatching, beach activities are all on site, or relaxing on the verandah with a book. Children and/or dogs are most welcome. This is quite unlike so many seaside experiences - no crowds, no noise - if you can't relax here you need help. Ideal for an Auckland get-away weekend in the winter.
