The road rises from sea level to the contemporary lodge perched high on the hill with 180-degree panoramic views of golden sandy beaches, rocky promontories and the fabulous Cavalli Islands. Nestled up here amongst the beautifully landscaped gardens and well away from any disturbance, it was easy to think that I was on cloud nine.
The five guest rooms of this purpose built lodge are romantically named after the beaches and islands viewed from the individual bedroom windows and decks - Te Ngaere, Pia Pia, Wainui, Motueka and Cavalli.
All rooms are designed and furnished in a contemporary style with pacific artworks which complement the views and restful atmosphere. Walk in showers are a feature of each ensuite bathroom.
Adjoining the guest suites is a spacious open plan lounge and dining area, leading to extensive open decking. This is where guests enjoy al fresco dining and sample the delicious menus using the freshest of ingredients prepared by the resident chef.
Diane has worked extensively in the hospitality industry and creates an atmosphere which is relaxing and perfect for unwinding. It was easy just to sit and enjoy the view but if you suddenly feel like a touch of adventure then some of the options are fishing charters, dive the wreck of the Rainbow Warrior with qualified PADI dive operators, or take a Heli-Tour of the Far North. It's all here.
