In the heart of Kerikeri there is a true gem with every comfort, everything you could wish for. Bed of Roses as the name suggests is for the very discerning traveller.
Louisa and Cliff Hobson-Cory have been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years and their experience shows. No expense has been spared to ensure that their guests are pampered, from the beautiful white linen, luxurious towels and toiletries, exquisite china to the French county antique furniture.
I particularly loved the Monet Suite and immediately thought I was back in Provence. Kerikeri is an oasis of exotic tropical plantings where it appears everything will flourish.
The original stone store, just a short walk from Bed of Roses was the beginning of what is now a vibrant town full of cafés, galleries and has become a fruit bowl of superb produce. Louisa draws on this to create her renowned breakfasts. Passionate about food and presentation, the menu changes daily and is all homemade.
I sat on the sun drenched terrace over looking the yachts moored in the inlet. The smell of freshly baked bread wafted from the kitchen and I could not help but feel that this was a little bit of France in Kerikeri
