As I left the main road I wondered what I might find and discovered, to my delight, three very chic modern villas built literally over an ornamental pond. Marian welcomed me aboard. How cool and pleasant it was walking onto the decking and into the pondsider. The next best thing to being on a boat, except no rocking.
Each villa has been cleverly staggered to give privacy. From the balconies, which are accessed from large sliding doors, you can watch the bird life, ducks cruising in and out of the rushes, or the views of mountains and farmland. Marian and Mike have planted many native shrubs and trees to enhance the pond. The interiors, carefully chosen, give a very contemporary feeling, using fabrics, textures and colour in great harmony. Underfloor heating and all the latest equipment for easy living is here.
Interesting hamper breakfasts or provisions are provided. The fresh fruit and flowers, homebaking and port just topped it off. I was delighted by all that has been achieved here.
This place is very near the Abel Tasman National Park and only 30 minutes from Nelson. A very central spot for all this region has to offer.
