The lodge is a large, modern mansion enjoying north facing vistas to the Kaimanawa Ranges, Mt. Maunganui and Mayor Island. Not long ago it was an avocado orchard.
Rosemary and Peter and their two children are New Zealanders who arrived back in the country and decided to put down roots in this sunny corner of the North Island.
The house has many notable features. The colours and patterns of the Feng Shui tiling that covers the floors, patios and outdoor areas is integrated with the colourful drapes and furnishings. There are extensive spaces open to the sun and view and the ambience is cheerful and inviting.
I stayed in one of the two family apartments, which are exceptionally roomy, with one double bedroom, one twin, a modern bathroom, fully furnished lounge and a kitchen with everything supplied. They are suitable for long-term stays. There is also a smaller suite for over-nighters.
My apartment opened to a solar heated swimming pool, the spa pool and the extensive landscaped garden dotted with avocado trees. Special continental breakfasts are served to the apartments by arrangement. Staying here was a very pleasant experience.
