From the moment I was welcomed to Peace And Plenty Inn, I felt at home. Judy's perfectionist nature is reflected in the wonderful attention to detail in her graciously restored 1880's Victorian villa, overlooking the waterfront and Windsor Reserve in the historic maritime village of Devonport with its relaxed holiday atmosphere, white sandy beaches and excellent café/restaurants. From here it's a short stroll to the ferry which takes you across to Auckland central and the surrounding islands of the Hauraki Gulf.
A highlight of this boutique bed and breakfast are its furnishings; a mix of English and French Provincial antiques with each stylishly luxurious guestroom reflecting an individual style. Additional touches included complimentary specialty teas, coffees, handmade chocolates, port, sherry and lavender bags in all guestrooms.
Gourmet breakfasts are served in a spacious, sunny dining room overlooking the secluded tropical garden or in summer alfresco on the verandah. Dining room tables, an 8-seater and smaller settings are dressed in crisp linens and fine china which sets the scene. The beautifully presented menu highlights local organic produce, our choice Belgian waffles and South Island salmon did not disappoint.
Stanley the resident Labrador is more than willing to take you for a walk or you may be so lucky to stay on a day Judy serves her famed high-afternoon teas, perfection!
